Feger tops Unzicker in Wild Man Kelly Classic at Jacksonville
Jason Feger returned to the driver’s seat of his Titan Industries No. 25 Late Model on Friday afternoon at Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.) for ninth annual Wild Man Kelly Classic.
Drawing 23 MARS Championship Series entries for the opener of the doubleheader weekend, Feger followed up the 13th-fastest qualifying effort with a fifth-to-second showing in his heat. Rolling off on the front row for the feature, Jason turned back a charging Ryan Unzicker after a handful of cautions to secure his 10th win of the season and 19th career MARS triumph. He pocketed a $5,000 payday ahead of Unzicker, Mike Harrison, Tony Jackson Jr., and Bob Gardner.
For the Tribute to Ed Dixon on Saturday at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Jason raced his way into the $5,000-to-win finale with a runner-up run in his heat. Climbing onto the podium in the feature, Feger gained four positions in the 40-lap affair to finish third, trailing Gordy Gundaker and Ryan Unzicker.
Jason holds a 22-point advantage atop the latest MARS Championship Series point standings.
